One-on-One

Private sessions for the next few months at least will continue online through Zoom or FaceTime. You can book a half hour, forty-five minutes or a full hour depending on your needs.

Half-Hour Tune Up:

The 30 minute session is a “tune-up” and appropriate for those who have already studied with me in a group class or done a series of privates in-person or online. In this lesson we would use Primal Alexander’s movement studies (simple choreography repeated and observed by the client and teacher) to find ease and balance, and then address an activity of the client’s choosing using Alexander’s principles.

45 Minute online session:

This session is perfect for those just getting started with the technique online. We will experiment with Primal Alexander movement studies (simple choreography repeated and observed by the client and teacher) to help gain an awareness of habits and make new choices. And then we would explore Alexander’s directions in constructive rest or a “lie-down” position. With this time frame there is ample time for discussion and discovery of Alexander’s principles, and mapping the joints and skeleton for a better understanding of how the body moves most efficiently.

Full Hour Alexander Private Session:

The full hour includes Primal Alexander movement studies to awaken the body to Alexander’s direction and principles, a constructive rest or lie-down to discover ease and support, and then a look at some chosen activity. Clients may choose to work on movements from the Pilates realm or yoga, or to bring in an art form like acting or singing. With the full hour, we have time to discuss the technique, discover what is happening, and experiment with a variety of movements and cues that may open new pathways for learning and grace.

Group:

I am currently booking one to two hour workshops online for groups interested in exploring Alexander. I have recently done introductory lessons for two choir groups, and an opera class at Brooklyn Music School, as well as a weekend intensive introductory class for Tom Todoroff’s actors. To discuss options for corporate classes or smaller groups wanting a specialized session please contact me directly.

In addition to my work at Tom Todoroff Conservatory and my private clients, I am offering a weekly class that anyone can join with no experience necessary through the Pilates Garage.

Monday 6-7pm Primal Alexander Class with Lie Down:

This class introduces basic concepts of Alexander Technique using Primal Alexander movement studies or etudes, as well as a classic Alexander principles in a lie-down. We practice putting our thinking first: how we think about moving before, during and after the movement changes everything about the quality of our movement and the ability to cultivate ease in our nervous system. We will spend the first part of the class with Primal Alexander movement, and then go to the floor for a classic constructive rest. In the lie-down portion, I will guide you through Alexander’s thinking and principles, breathing coordination and some gentle movement. No prior experience necessary.

Pricing:

Most of my clients book directly through the Pilates Garage/mindbody system where a 45 minute online session is $70, and a full hour is $85. The Half Hour would be $35. However, I work on a sliding scale with performing artists and can individualize a fee that works for them payable through Venmo for both individual and group classes.

For a one hour group session it is $100/hour payed direct to me via Venmo.
